606 Trail, Chicago, IL
Critics: Adrienne Brown, Terry Surjan and Ang Li
This pavilion design is inspired by the idea to experience an ephemeral atmospheric condition by accentuating the scents of plants found on the 606 trail in Chicago as one moves through the space. Organic curves shape the form of the pavilion as the physical act of pinching gives rise to these spaces. The intensity of the scents, which are emitted as mists from the canopy and the size of the pinched spaces correlate and so does the configuration of the pavilion as it creates a linear path for one to transition through.
