Smells of Home

Spring 2017

Chicago, IL

Critic: Joseph Altshuler

The project strives to allow housing and a library to coexist. It emphasizes a sensorial connection between the programs, housing and library by exaggerating the mechanics of shared air within `mixed-use buildings. By architecturally amplifying forced air and the smells that it conveys, the project augments an aromatic understanding within a public culinary library. It is the smells of the private herb gardens that are on display in the library to enhance the public experience.
